About NeaS
The Nea-Statistic (NeaS) blog is intended to be a virtual meeting place where people can read about statistics and share new findings in data science. We plan to introduce students (and also a broader audience) some current topics in Data Science, while also making some of our research interests visible to the general public.
Our hope is to create a cozy corner where we can share observations and disseminate ideas with an international community informally, without the pressure of the peer review process.
Blog posts will be mainly centered on statistical research, including generalized linear models, discrete and categorical data analysis, non-standard data modeling, classification and clustering. Those topics will be accompanied by real-life applications in different fields, i.e. environment, learning, informatics, territorial studies and services.
The covered topics will also include local events (such as meetups or conferences) and info related to teaching, i.e. writing and preparing a thesis, writing a journal article and submitting an article to a refereed journal. Throughout the blog there will be an extensive use of the modern softwares that are supposed to belong to the so-called statistical toolbox, including LaTeX, R and Python among others.
Hopefully, blog posts will be added biweekly or weekly and, except in some particular cases (i.e. themed episodes), the ordering of material does not matter. Posts are mainly written by myself and eventually some colleagues of the research team I belong, a list of the authors is available here.
