In this paper we identify the relationships between the Italian university courses and students' first job categories. University courses in Italy are divided in bachelor (corsi di studio, CdS) and master degrees (corsi di laurea,CdL), while the professional sectors are categorized by the ATECO codes, officially introduced by the Italian institute of statistics (ISTAT). The aim of the present work is twofold: fistly, we want to study the relationships between the degree program students choose and the class of employment they obtain at their first job, then we aim to detect the existence of critical points and elements of inconsistency. With the use of the network analysis it is possible to analyse the network constituted by the relationships between ATECO codes and university courses of the Campania universities. In this context, it is possible to identify well-defined clusters formed by degree classes and ISTAT codes that appear homogeneous both from a university and professional point of view. This work is part of the results obtained from the research entitled “monitoring of employment and outgoing skills”, linked to the Regional Observatory Project of the Campania University System (Osservatorio Regionale del Sistema Universitario Campano, ORSUC).
